A brilliantly simple classroom response system

Abstract

Laser pointers are an effective classroom response system in a chemistry context. Each student is given their own laser pointer to point, gesture and participate in chemical simulations. Implementation is inexpensive and requires minimal instructor training or preparation but allows for a high degree of creativity. Students report high levels of adoption, engagement, and enjoyment.
