This article critically reviews and contextualises a publication by Wagner et al. in Nature Food 3, 921-32 (2022), titled "Transfer of cannabinoids into the milk of dairy cows fed with industrial hemp could lead to Δ9-THC exposure that exceeds acute reference dose"

Author’s competing interest statement

JC Callaway is CEO of Finola Oy, which is a LLC in Finland, responsible for the 'FINOLA' variety of hemp. He began his involvement with Industrial hemp in 1995. This is not a competing interest, per se, but an informed interest. However, for reasons of full transparency, he wishes to disclose his connection to the hemp industry. Bernhard R. Beitzke is a member of the EIHA Advisory Board, European Industrial Hemp Association, though not a member of EIHA.
