VIII and IX Brazilian Study Group with Industry

The Brazilian Study Group with Industry or “CeMEAI Workshop in Mathematical Solutions for Industrial Problems”, (WSMPI) has been organized since 2015, by the Center for Mathematical Sciences Applied to Industry (CeMEAI), part of University of São Paulo. The VIII edition of the WSMPI was organized in collaboration with IMPA a highly regarded research institution in Brazil. IMPA located in Rio de Janeiro, is well-known worldwide for research in Mathematics. The WSMPI is organized around the same format of the original Oxford SGI´s. Groups are formed voluntarily around each problem, are encouraged to work on different approaches for the same problem. The vast majority of the participants are graduate students from graduate programs around Brazil and they have been mainly applied mathematicians, statisticians and computer scientists. The workshops have sometimes attracted participants from neighboring countries in South America. A written report has been provided for most of the problems presented in the seven previous editions of the WSMPI.
