University of Leeds, via online meeting, Monday July 20–Friday July 24 2020

European Study Groups with Industry (ESGI) are collaborative workshops that bring together leading academic mathematical scientists to work intensively on real-world problems supplied by industry partners, with the aim of generating proof-of-concept solutions. There is an annual ESGI event in the UK that is hosted by a different university each year. The School of Mathematics at the University of Leeds hosted ESGI 162 in July 2020 with the support of the Virtual Forum for Knowledge Exchange in the Mathematical Sciences (V-KEMS). This was the first virtual ESGI event and attracted participants from around the world, who worked on eight industry problems.
