Abstract
Six first-in-class pyrazoline-hydrazone fluorescent sensors that distinguish Zn2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ at three separate wavelengths in aqueous environments are reported. Lead sensor P1 was validated for the detection of the group 12 metals in river and pond water enabling rapid in situ environmental monitoring using a portable low-cost portable device. The results set a new benchmark for the pyrazoline sensor design.
