Abstract

We found conditional fluorescent changes of azaylides bearing fluorescent chromophores. Azaylide formation and their stability were examined using electron-deficient aromatic azides and triarylphosphines having fluorescent chromophores. Turn-on fluorescence was realized under the acidic conditions using a non-fluorescent azaylide prepared by nonhydrolysis Staudinger reaction from 2,6-dichloro-substituted aryl azide and 1-pyrenyl phosphine.
