Ortho-Carborane Preparation: Traditional Methods and Recent Innovations

This microreview covers the existing methodologies for the synthesis of ortho-carboranes. The most promising approaches to the synthesis of this class of compounds reported in the last 10 years, starting from the year 2013 and up to now, have been discussed in detail. Reactions leading to the functionalization of the carborane core were excluded from the scope of the review.
