Abstract

It was established that TaCl5-mediated reactions of diethyl 2-phenylcyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylate and dimethyl 2-(4-chlorophenyl)cyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylate with aromatic aldehydes lead to the selective formation of di- and trihalo-substituted tetrahydronaphthalenes in high yield
