The Comparative Analysis of Photocatalytic Degradation of Mixture of Dyes using Green Metal Nanoparticles.

Abstract

In this study, photocatalytic degradation of mixture of dyes consisting of Methylene blue and Methyl orange has been highlighted using green metal nanoparticles. Over here metal nanoparticles were synthesised using aqueous extract of roots of plants which have not been reported so far. Synthesised green metal nanoparticles have been characterised using spectroscopy and microscopy techniques. FEG-SEM results shows all the metal nanoparticles have been formed in the range of 1-100nm. Further , its photocatalytic activity towards degradation in mixture of dyes using monometallic and bimetallic approach has been studied. This study illustrates that Copper Nanoparticles were found to be more efficient photocatalyst as compared to Silver Nanoparticles and Zinc Nanoparticles were found to be more efficient photocatalyst as compared to Titanium Nanoparticles.Overall, reported findings in this study contributes towards economical selection of metal nanoparticles used in photocatalytic degradation of toxic organic Azo dyes compared to expensive metal nanoparticles.
