Abstract

The synthesis, characterisation and reactivity of a Mg2(n-Bu)2 complex bound by a rigid and dinucleating ligand is described. Supported by calculations we detail the effects of nuclearity and coordinative saturation of Mg2(n-Bu)2 complexes on reactivity and demonstrate amine-borane dehydrogenation at decreased temperatures due to the enforced proximity of the Mg-centres.
