Self-pillared pentasil zeolites: adjusting the thickness of nanosheets through a simple and direct dual templating approach

Abstract

A one-step synthesis method allows tuning the silicalite nanosheets’ thickness from 2 to 30 nm in self-pillared zeolites. The adjustement is achieved by mixing two simple organic structure-directing agents (OSDAs): tetrapropylammonium (TPA) and tetrabutylammonium (TBA). The proportion of incorporated TBA, known to favour silicalite nanosheets, determines the morphological variations observed.
