Abstract

The cis-MoO2(BHAN)2 (BHAN= β-hydroxy-α-naphthaldehyde) has shown promising potential as a biomimetic catalyst for VHPO (vanadium haloperoxidase) activity. In particular, it has demonstrated effective catalytic activity in the bromination of organic substrates such as phenol red producing the corresponding brominated product, bromo phenol blue. This reaction closely mimics bromoperoxidase activity, highlighting the potential of the synthesized complex as a bio-inspired catalyst. Overall, these findings open exciting avenues for development of novel Mo-based VHPO biomimetic catalysts with potential applications in diverse fields like organic synthesis, catalysis and pharmaceuticals.
