Abstract

A ferrocene aluminum compound (salfan-H2)Al(OiPr) (salfan-H2 = 1,1’-di(2,4-bis-tert-butyl-salicylamino)ferrocene), with adjustable redox and protonation characteristics, has been synthesized and characterized, and serves as a switchable cata-lyst for ring-opening polymerization. Leveraging this versatile, multistate system, we have successfully synthesized a range of innovative copolymers, including AB diblock poly(styrene oxide-lactide) (PSO-PLA), ABC triblock poly(butyl lactone-styrene oxide-lactide) (PBBL-PSO-PLA), and ABCD tetrablock copolymers poly(ethoxy vinyl glycidyl ether-butyl lactone-styrene oxide-lactide) (PEVGE-PBBL-PSO-PLA).
